Alessandra comes from a small town in Tuscany, in the north of Italy. Her mother is a home-maker, taking care of Alessandra’s four younger siblings. Her father runs a shoe-store, and works late every night cobbling and fixing soles.
At 19, Alessandra has had a charmed life. She grew up running free thru the Tuscan hills, playing in the orchards and the fields. She went swimming in the nearby rivers, and climbing in the mountains that hug the valley in which her village sits. It was an innocent and ideal childhood.
Now that she’s a woman, Alessandra has many dreams. She hopes to some day go and live in Rome where she’d like to work in modelling. There, the work would mostly be modelling for artists. She would also be happy to move to Milan, where girls can work in the fashion industry.
It’s not that she doesn’t like her village, it’s just too small for a girl with big dreams. All the village boys, of course, will be sad to see her go, as watching her walk to church on Sundays in her flower skirt has been one of their favourite past-times for years. But Alessandra will never forget where she came from. She will always carry it in her heart as the purity of her origin.
